Pick up The Knot’s summer 2012 issue on newsstands now!  Ivan and I are super excited to see our wedding featured nationally. Of course this couldn’t be accomplished without the amazing vendors we worked with! The vision I had for our big day really came to life and was even better than I imagined. Occasionally I ask Ivan if we can get married again…maybe we can renew our vows so I can plan another wedding.

If you’ve been following my blog for awhile, you may know that I absolutely LOVE Kelly Balfour with Eventology Weddings. She planned my wedding and is just amazing at what she does! When she asked me to help her out at Ava’s first birthday party, of course I agreed! I brought along my camera and captured some details and photos of the adorable birthday girl and wanted to share them on the blog today! Ivan and I have been married almost 6 months! I couldn’t resist doing a few ring shots…

Our family came over for dinner, so I decided to decorate the table with my Easter bunny.

Last week Ivan and I went to the rodeo with some friends and had the opportunity to see Zac Brown Band! We probably had the worst seats in the stadium but it was a concert I enjoyed .

My good friend Kelly Balfour of Eventology Weddings threw a Favorite Things Party that was so fabulous I had to share a few details! The red and burlap theme was perfect and I had a great time along with all the guests! Everyone brought 5 “favorite things” in the $5-$8 price range and then we exchanged them with each other by drawing 5 names each. The names that you draw receive your gift, and everyone ends up with 5 new favorite things! I loved this idea so much! Thanks Kelly for throwing this party ! Happy holidays everyone!

Ivan, we’ve been married exactly 2 months and today is your birthday! I have a small glimpse of what the rest of our lives will be like and it is such a blessing to be your wife. Even though I blamed you for getting me sick this week, you still made me a bowl of udon soup (even though you were sick too!) as I laid on the couch with a blanket and a box of tissues. This is just one of the many examples I have that show me you love me. I tried to convince you to take off of work today but you insisted that there was a lot to be done and that you would come home on time. How someone can be so selfless and hard working is beyond my understanding, but I love you for it! Happy birthday, husband…I can’t wait to celebrate your birthdays with you for the rest of our lives!

Christmas is hands down my favorite holiday! I always love the decorations, lights, music, and food associated with this time of the year. This Christmas is especially exciting because for the first time, I’m decorating my own home and have a pantry stocked with ingredients to make cookies and hot chocolate! On Thanksgiving Day we went to get a Christmas tree (that is how badly I wanted to put it up) and purchased this 7.5 pre lit tree! I decorated it with ornaments mostly from Target and a few others I already had. The mercury glass vases we have on our mantle are from ZGallerie ($4.95!) and I “borrowed” the garland from my parents…but between you and me I think I just might keep it! I wish I could keep these decorations up all year! My next project is to wrap all the gifts I have and put them under the tree. Thanks to Pinterest, I have tons of DIY gifts and things to make. That site is way too addicting and I have to limit the time I spend on it!

After a shoot and a meeting this afternoon, I’ll be spending the weekend off of work with family and friends. Over the next couple of weeks I’ll be celebrating my husband’s birthday, attending a wedding as a guest, hosting a bridal shower at our home, shooting one of my best friend’s bridals, going to New Orleans, and photographing another wedding all before Christmas! Oh, and I will try to keep this blog updated as well. I hope all of my lovely blog readers have a great weekend!

I’m excited to share the launch of my new website today! There are still a few things I need to tweak here and there, but I’m thrilled to see it up and running. Hey everyone! Ivan and I are back from our awesome honeymoon in Hawaii and I am officially back to work tomorrow! These past 2 weeks of marriage have been wonderful! It was so nice to ignore my phone and the rest of the world for a little bit – everyone needs a break every once in awhile! Anyway, now that I’m back, I have a lot to post on the blog! Stay tuned!

It’s been a long time…a really long time…since I have done a personal post! But every day I read my wedding photographer (the fabulous Jasmine Star!!!)’s blog and she inspires me to be different and showcase who I am, so here I am writing a blog about something other than a session or wedding I just shot. I am dedicating this post to a woman who inspires me every day – my mom! I love her so much and I can’t believe in just 11 days (!!!!) I’ll be married! Thankfully, my mom has taught me a lot about being married, whether she knows it or not, and I have learned so much from her. My mom and I are very close and she truly is one of my best friends. Thank goodness I’ll only be living 5 minutes away so I can occasionally drop in for lunch…or dinner. Today I did an impromptu mini shoot of her and even did her makeup because, let’s be honest, moms don’t get spoiled enough! Mom…you are beautiful and I am so blessed to be your daughter. Here’s to many more years of learning, laughing, and eating together!

I thought I would take a little break from all the photos I usually post to tell you, my favorite blog readers, a little story. I was at a grocery store with my fiance, Ivan, and there were Girl Scouts outside selling boxes of cookies. Those that have known me for awhile are aware that I definitely have a sweet tooth and I LOVE cookies. I had already purchased a couple of boxes from friends of friends, but my small supply was already pretty low, so I decided to get some more. I asked Ivan what he wanted (he doesn’t have much of a sweet tooth, actually), and he told me – wait for it – to get whatever I wanted! Seriously…how did I get this lucky? Let’s see if he says the same thing about shoes. I bought 2 boxes of Lemonades…because the flavor is light and somehow maybe that means they’re less calories…or I just feel less guilty for eating a lot of them. Cookies are always so pretty and sweet and I just couldn’t resist taking a few photos of them! Is anyone else out there as addicted to cookies as I am?

The macaroons you see here are from Sweet, a new little dessert shop I discovered with my best friend Janell! Just look at how cute they are! How could I resist?

In case you’re wondering how I took these and managed to be in the photos, I set up a tripod and bought a remote that syncs with the timer on my camera. It made everything so much easier than running back and forth while setting the timer!

Last night was the Blissful Wishes Ball with Wish Upon A Wedding Houston. I went early in the afternoon to volunteer and help with a few things, and of course brought along my camera to take a few photos. It is an honor for me to be part of this organization and it was great seeing other wedding professionals at the event. There was a silent auction to raise money for the organization and there were tons of great items! Baseballs signed by presidents, autographed photos, and vacation packages…just to name a few! I just know that Wish Upon A Wedding is going to change lives and I’m so excited to see what will happen in the future!
